Fascinating fact: Dogs have a sense of smell that’s between 10,000 and 100,000 times more acute than ours! The sport of Scent Work celebrates the joy of sniffing, and asks a dog to sniff to their heart’s content; turning your dog’s favorite activity into a rewarding game. It is a terrific sport for all kinds of dogs, and is a wonderful way to build confidence in a shy dog.
K9 Nose Work strives to harness dogs’ searching and scenting instinct to build strong human-animal bonds through scent detection activities that encourage mutual respect and illuminate the amazing abilities of our canine companions.
In K9 Nose Work, dogs learn how to search for a specific odor or odors and find the source. Dogs start by searching for their favorite food reward hidden in a variety of environments, increasing the challenges and adding new search skills as the dog progresses. Most people will choose to have their dogs learn to find the target odors used in Nose Work: birch, anise, and clove; Once target odors are introduced to the dog, he will search for the odor only and find its source, then get rewarded by his handler with his favorite food or toy reward.
Over the years, I have sought out various trainers and clinics, exposing myself to many ideas and methodologies. I continue to be most influenced by trainers highly skilled in engagement and motivation...with an eye for the dog as an individual.
I specializes in K9 Nosework classes
I am committed to K9 Nose Work, whether teams are involved in competition or simply playing for fun.

In turn, we ask that you understand and respect that our classes are taught via K9 Nose Work® methodology. This could include revisiting foundation skills and pairing. It will never include clicker training or marking a behavior at source. We will require a private consultation to ensure new teams, already on odor, are matched to the correct class.
